Community spouses who apply for MA must apply on a separate application from that of the institutionalized person. Count assets and income Income is anything you receive in cash or in kind that you can use to meet your needs for food, clothing, and shelter. allocated and transferred to them by the institutionalized person when you are determining the community spouse's MA eligibility. Beyond these, count only the assets and income belonging to the community spouse.
