25.5 Section 1619 Group

Section 1619 of the Social Security Act applies to people with disabilities who work. Medicaid is protected for 1619 participants. Both 1619(a) and 1619(b) participants are automatically enrolled in SSI Medicaid.

Note If a 1619 participant loses their 1619 status (and SSI Medicaid) due to receiving Social Security benefits, they may qualify as a 503, DAC, or Widow/Widower group depending on the circumstances. When determining the special status disregard amount for a former 1619 participant who lost Medicaid eligibility due to receiving Social Security benefits, the date they lost SSI Medicaid is treated as the date they lost SSI.
